3
Hypothesis Concrete surfaces are hotter than non-concrete surfaces. V.S.
4
Concrete surfaces: 1.A (Top floor of multi-storey carpark) 2.C (Open space between canteen and Block C 3.D (Terraces) 4.G (Fountain area outside General Office)
5
Non-concrete surfaces: 1.B (Garden outside printing centre) 2.E (Field) 3.F (Running track)

Site A (Concrete space with no shelter) Day 1Temperature Day 2 Temperature 15 cm above ground 1.5 m above ground 33 degree celsius 30.5 degree celsius 30.2 degree celsius 28.4 degree celsius

Site B (Plants, some shade and open space) Day 1 Temperature Day 2 Temperature 15 cm above ground 1.5 m above ground 30.9 degree celsius 30.5 degree celsius 29.5 degree celsius 28.6 degree celsius
10
Site C (Concrete space with little shade) Day 1 Temperature Day 2 Temperature 15 cm above ground 1.5 m above ground 30.6 degree celsius 30 degree celsius 28.8 degree celsius 28.7 degree celsius

Site D (Concrete open space) Day 1Temperature Day 2 Temperature 15 cm above ground 1.5 m above ground 30.2 degree celsius 29.9 degree celsius 29.3 degree celsius 27.6 degree celsius

Site E (Large space with grass) Day 1 Temperature Day 2 Temperature 15 cm above ground 1.5 m above ground 30.8 degree celsius 30.5 degree celsius 31.1 degree celsius 28.9 degree celsius
13
Site F (Huge space made out of synthetic rubber with no shade at all) Day 1 Temperature Day 2 Temperature 15 cm above ground 1.5 m above ground 30.4 degree celsius 28.7 degree celsius 30.9 degree celsius 29.4 degree celsius
14
Site G (Concrete space with no shade at all) Day 1 Temperature Day 2 Temperature 15 cm above ground 1.5 m above ground 31.2 degree celsius 29.1 degree celsius 30.4 degree celsius 29.0 degree celsius
15
Conclusion We found out that our class hypothesis is wrong. It is not true that concrete surfaces radiate more heat than non-concrete surfaces. For example, the temperature of the running track is hotter than the temperature of the terraces, as synthetic rubber radiate more heat than concrete.
16
Conclusion Question: Why are the temperatures different although it is at the same location? Answer: The different temperatures are due to different factors, including humidity level, time arrived at location, wind and position of the sun.
