Comes from the Greek word “Kanon” meaning G2583 kan-ohn‘ (a straight reed, that is, rod); a rule (“canon”), that is, (figuratively) a standard (of faith and practice); by implication a boundary, that is, (figuratively) a sphere (of activity): - line, rule.
