2. Why is hand washing important?
Hand washing is very important because it helps prevent sickness in yourself and others and helps stop spread germs! Things you touch everyday could possibly end your life.. Keeping your hands properly washed help prevent the spread of germs that could give you, gastrointestinal infections, influenza and hepatitis A. Washing your hands also help other people not catch anything and become seriously ill.

3. How does washing your hands a great way to fight off germs and viruses?
It is the best way to fight off germs because you are constantly touching things, using your hands, grabbing different things that who know who else touched? Like a door handle, somebody could have easily sneezed then opened the door and it so happens you come around and open the same door afterwards. Now you have come into contact with that germ and in a few days, you’ll find yourself sneezing and sick. Washing your hands doesn’t just mean put them under water, rub, then dry. It’s water, soap, and a whole lot of friction. Friction is the top reason to why washing your hands is good to get rid of germs.

5. What are germs? What do they look like?
Germs are broken up between four different categories, bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoa. They are tiny organisms that can cause disease. They creep into our bodies unnoticed until you wake up one day and have the symptoms. They can also invade plants and animals.

6. How do you come in contact with germs? What happens when you do?
There is three main ways that germs are spread, by contact, in a droplet or through small droplets that float through the air. Contact is the most way that germs are spread, hugging, kissing and shaking hands are all examples.
When you come in contact with germs especially viruses, they cause colds, the flu and RSV. That cause, coughing, sneezing, vomit and diaherra. That can last up to 3-4 days.

Escherichia coli is a bacteria found in your feces, is a gram-negative, facultative anaerobic, rod-shaped, bacterium that is usually found in the lower intestine.
Most E. coli strains are harmless, but some serotypes can cause serious food poisoning in humans and can really make people sick.

10. Yeast
Yeasts are small and a one cell plant. They are in the fungi family, which also includes mushroom. Most yeast can only live on sugar and starches. Yeast reproduce by a method called budding, a bud forms on the parents cell, grows and finally separates making itself its own cell. Because they can grow under conditions of high salt or sugar, they can cause the spoilage in some foods.

11. Respiratory
Many diseases are spread through the respiratory droplets that are in the air from coughing and sneezing of a sick person. They can be spread by all sorts of ways, when a sick person touches the counter and leaves germ particles there someone else touches that same counter and rubs their nose or mouth. It could cause diseases like, influenza. (commonly knows as the flu)

Staph is short for a germ called Staphylococcus, most people have it on their skin or on their nose. It usually doesn’t give people problems. Staph infections can be cured by taking germ killing medicine. Staph infections could also cause serious illness for some people who are not healthy enough to fight the infection off. They could get lung, skin, or blood infections.

13. Salmonella
Salmonella is a rod shaped bacteria that can cause diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after infection. The sickness usually lasts up to 4 to 7 days and most people recover without treatment. Some people can not fight it off and the diarrhea gets too severe and they have to be hospitalized.

14. H1N1 Outbreak At Bethany College
Six Students from Bethany College got sick with the H1N1, they were all staying in dorms at the facility. All of the six students into one dorm and put a sign on it that said to prevent it from spreading keep the door shut. After that the whole school was being very careful and carried around sanitizer everywhere they went.
