2 READING SCRIPTURE  Why might we want to communicate with God?  How might we communicate with God?  How might God communicate with us?

3 READING SCRIPTURE  SCV.01 explain the relationship between Scripture and Divine Revelation;  SCV.02 explain how the message of Scripture informs and challenges society;  I can explanation what the Bible tells me about God’s will for my life.

5 READING SCRIPTURE THE STORIES IN SCRIPTURE TELL US ABOUT: THE PEOPLE WE WERE; THE PEOPLE WE ARE; THE PEOPLE WE CAN BE.  Catholics read Scripture contextually:  We look for the ‘truth’ or ‘lesson’  We learn about the time it was written  We believe it is inspired by God and written by humans.  Other Christians read Scripture literally:  They look for what it says exactly  They understand it the same way today  They believe it is the exact word of God provided to humans.

6 READING SCRIPTURE THE STORIES IN SCRIPTURE TELL US ABOUT: THE PEOPLE WE WERE; THE PEOPLE WE ARE; THE PEOPLE WE CAN BE.  Find a group of 3-4 (facilitator, recorder, reporter x2);  In the group, think of as many stories from the Bible (Old or New Testament) as you can;  Write the name of the story on a sticky note;  When you have as many as you can think of, place them in order;  Prepare to share them with the class.

7 READING SCRIPTURE THE STORIES IN SCRIPTURE TELL US ABOUT: THE PEOPLE WE WERE; THE PEOPLE WE ARE; THE PEOPLE WE CAN BE.  Within your group, pick three of the stories and describe what you think the story tells us about:  The people of the time (Jews, early Christians);  The people we are (Catholics, young people);  The people we can be (What God wants for us).
