* To determine how many of our potential clients have medical insurance to help us gauge the feasibly of billing insurance companies in the future

We began to verbally ask each perspective client whether or not they had medical insurance and if so with whom?

We decided to do a mini survey instead of verbally asking about whether or not the potential client had medical insurance.

Do you have medical insurance? Yes____ No____ If yes, with whom_____________________ Do you have Medi-cal? Yes_____No_______ Are you interested in a private pay bed? Yes____ No____

* We found that very few of our potential clients had medical insurance. * Gateway for Women did have 1 client that had medical insurance with Aetna. Gateway for Women was able to bill Aetna as an out of network provider for 2 weeks of services.

* Will contact various insurance providers in order to apply to be a network provider * Will look into becoming CARF certified

This project helped us to realize that very few of our clients have medical coverage therefore it might be challenging to bill insurance companies in the future. We are hoping that if we become a network provider that the insurance companies will refer some clients to our agencies. We are also looking into other funding sources besides The County.
