7. 2. What did the British government learn as a result of Pontiac’s Rebellion?  Defending the lands W. of the Appalachian Mts. would cost a lot of money (forts/supplies, soldiers, etc.)

8. 3. What was the purpose of the Proclamation of 1763?  to keep the colonists safe on the east side of the Appalachian Mts.—Britain could not afford to keep soldiers in the Backcountry (W. of App. Mts.)
