2 YOUTH PROJECTS AIM " To provide the young people of the world with opportunities for achievement, learning, contribution and service, individually and collectively, through sponsorship of activities identified as best practice in the field of youth development"

3 THE 105E YOUTH TEAM aim to promote Lions Youth Activities within the local communities, encouraging young people to have a positive, humanitarian, respectful and helpful approach to their Community.” Lions Clubs International-British Isles and Ireland District 105E Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

4 One of Lions Clubs International CENTENNIAL CHALLENGES is to ENGAGE YOUTH in their local community. With this in mind we would like give the Clubs in 105e the opportunity to encourage young people, between the ages of 7 and 16, to become involved with their local community and invite them, to identify a project which will improve the environment, is sustainable and will serve their local community.

5 The scheme is open to candidates within the age limits as follows: - They must have reached their 15th birthday, but not their 19th birthday, on or before 30th June in the year in which the MD Final is to be held. Candidates Schools Youth Clubs Scouts Guides Sea Cadets Air Cadets Army Cadets Hospitals Police Groups Churches St Johns Our own Lion -Young Leaders in Service and other youth organisations and clubs. Candidates are judged on:- Their community service activity and its longevity. Personality and demonstration of leadership qualities. Their proposed use of the bursary. Their ability to speak about their service activities. Commitment to take part in the Multiple District Finals weekend, which is a mixture of work and fun, including an informal “ice-breaking” evening, an activity like bowling and a Gala Dinner including entertainment by ‘them’ followed by a disco. MD winner needs to be committed to:- Addressing MD Convention. Attending a Youth Camp. Representing their Multiple District at Europa Forum Final. Applications to be received by December 12 TH 2015 Time Table for FINALS:- District Finals: - Saturday 2 nd January 2016 MD Finals: -Friday 19 th – Sunday 21 st February 2016 Europa Forum : - October 2016

6 Bursaries are awarded to winners at:- District level (£500), MD level (£1000), Europa Forum (3,500 euro). Such Bursaries are paid to the candidates sponsoring club, who hold the responsibility to ensure that monies are spent as was defined in the candidate’s application forms.

8 LIONS YOUNG LEADERS IN SERVICE AWARDS The Lions Young Leaders in Service Awards recognize young people (suggested ages 12- 18) for their community service within a 12-month period: 50 hours of service = Silver Seal Award 100 hours of service = Gold Seal Award

11 PEACE POSTER. Each year, Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This art contest for young people encourages students worldwide to express their visions of peace. For more than 25 years, millions of children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest. The theme of the 2015-16 is “Share Peace." Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15 are eligible to participate. Entries to be with DO no later than November 14 th. District final :- November 18 th at The Victoria Hotel Beeston

12 Your Club may also like to be involved with the District Special Needs Competition which enables pupils of all abilities to become involved. The rules have been relaxed to allow Special pupils to become involved and is open to students aged 11 years up to their normal School Leaving Age. Prizes are awarded at Club level and a £50 prize at District level.  The art work must be the work of only one student and measure no less than 13 x 20 inches (33x50 cms) or more than 20x24 inches (50 x 60 cms) inches.  The work is to be original – no photographs, computer graphics or duplications.  Media can include chalk, charcoal, crayon, marker, paint, pastel, pencil and pen.  The use of lettering or numbering on the front of the poster should be kept to a minimum. However; we do accept that some children may need to use print depending on their ability.

14 Lions Youth Camp and Youth Exchange Programme enables thousands of young people each year to travel overseas to discover more about different cultures and build lasting friendships.

16 Leo Clubs provide volunteer opportunities that inspire and support leadership in young people from the age of 12 and offer the chance to learn, grow and participate in community projects.

19 Lions European Music Competition is one of only a handful of competitions that offers young musicians (up the age of 23) to compete across Europe. Each year the competition features a different musical instrument and piece of music for candidates to play.
