The Culture of the United States of America By: Paige Sabo-Dolich

Holidays The main holidays that many Americans celebrate include Christmas, Easter, Independence Day( 4 of July), New Year's day, Thanksgiving, and Veteran's Day.

Food Many Americans dine at fast food restaurants. Such restaurants include McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's. However, to show that we Americans still have patriotism, I surveyed 30 people what their favorite American dish is. Here are my results.

Results Mac and Cheese: 3 Burgers: 10 Turkey: 1 Mashed Potatoes: 0 Hot dogs: 0 Ice Cream: 10 Fried Chicken: 6

Government In the United States, our government is a Democracy. This means we elect our leaders. The government is conducted of three branches, the Judicial, Legislative, and Executive. Judges and courts rule the Judicial, lawmakers control the Legislative, and the President of the United States runs the Executive.

Religion In America, there are many religions. This is because of the Constitution. The Constitution permits U.S citizens to worship as they please. Religions in the United States include Christian, Buddhism, Judaism, Protestant, Lutheran, Quakers, Roman Catholic, Native American practices, and Islam.

Currency In the United States of America, we use the American Dollar as our currency. We have currency ranging from one cent to a thousand dollars. Both coins and paper bills have a tails and a head. The head side usually has the face of a U.S president or someone very important to the United states. The tails side usually has a United States landmark.

Sports In the United States we play many sports. These include soccer, hockey, football, baseball, and basketball. Major events that take place in sports are the Stanley Cup, the Super Bowl, and the Olympics. Every athlete strides to be an Olympian. There are two types of Olympics; the Summer and Winter. This year, Beijing, China held the Summer Olympics and Vancouver, Canada hosted the Winter Olympics.

Music Rap, hip hop, country, soul. These are only a few of the United States many different genres of music. Some famous musicians include Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Pink, Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, and Madonna.

Cinema Movies became quite popular in the United States in the 1920s.Hollywood opened for this reason back in 1927. Movies included Star Wars, Walt Disney Movies, The Jazz Singer, and Gone With the Wind. Famous actresses are Marilyn Monroe, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, Kay Francis, and Joan Collins. Famous actors are Brad Pitt,Taylor Lautner, Clark Gable, and Arnold Schwarzenegger
