2 Soccer Terminology w/ the Ball  “Clear it!” – the act of moving the ball out of the area of one’s own goal by kicking it (throwing it - goalkeeper)  “Cross it” – another word for center the ball or pass it to the other side of the field  “Tackle her” – the act of taking the ball away from a player by kicking or stopping it with one's feet.  “Drop it”- the act of kicking the soccer ball backwards TO A TEAMMATE!  “Possession” – Do not allow the other team the opportunity to intercept the ball. Pass to teammates… not just booting the ball down the field.

3  “Check to” – to ask for the ball or make a run back towards a teammate demanding for the ball.  “Pressure her” – closing down the space between you and the opponent, not allowing them to easily get by you.  “Push Up” – Defense moving the line forward towards midfield when offense has CONTROL of the ball.  “Drop Back” – When the opponent has control of the ball and they are behind you.  “Get Goal Side” – Stand in between the opponent and the goal.
