6. So What’s the point of School? Transmit knowledge and skills to next generation Socialize students (But what does this mean?)

7. Functionalist Theory Schools teach students how to: Be on time for class Learn the curriculum material Get used to rewards for top grades Submit to teachers authority

8. Conflict Theory Schools teach students: to understand that time belongs to their employer How to do boring, repetitive jobs That success and money will lead to good lives To respect authority figures later in life (managers, officers, doctors etc.)
