How can we characterize a soundscape ? With individual questionnaires With measurements This questionnaires would be proposed by the ISO WG54 -Sound level over time and frequency -Signal to noise ratio -Informational masking -Speech Intelligibility -Emergence of sources (in level and in time) For each kind of source: Psycho acoustic indicators such as Loudness, Sharpness Roughness, etc. NEED OF AUTOMATIC SOURCE IDENTIFICATION

Questions about measurements When ?Where ?How long ? Do we have to measure soundscape of a place or do we have to characterize sound walks ? For the moment it seems that it is easier to measure soundscapes of points and aggregate them to characterize a walk. Do we have to think about new measurements ? For example self produced noises such as sound of footsteps ?

How can we help people to imagine the soundscape ? With auralizationThere is a need of sound source database - Problem of source movements - Problem of recordings (in situ with no reverberation at all ?) - Audio prototypes With soundscape mappingThere is a need of : - Relevant visual representations - Classification - Common language

Actions in short term Actions in long term Collect a list of case studies which can illustrate the impact of soundscape on sustainable development. Actions in medium term Prepare the Stockholm exhibition as fine as possible to sent it to different European cities Prepare a soundscape guide line for municipalities Increase the level of knowledge for young architects in developing contacts with school of architecture
