2 -HELLO, MY NAME IS BRANDON GILL. I’ AM A SENIOR AT UKIAH HIGH SCHOOL AND I LOVE SCIENCE! MY FAVORITE SCIENCE CLASSES ARE EARTH AND SPACE SCIENCE AS WELL AS ASTRONOMY. -Hello, my name is Chris Kwon. I’m from Korea. I’ am a junior at Ukiah High School and 12 th grade at Korea School. I love Physics and Chemistry.

3 TEAM DESCRIPTION We are two kids, junior and senior of Ukiah High School in a small town in Eastern Oregon. Our challenge was to design blades for a windmill that would be efficient enough to generate electricity. The windmill we created has four blades that are made from paperboard which is a tough but light weight material similar to cardboard. When the time came to start testing our blades, we discovered that they would not spin when at a 90 degree angle with the box fan. So we decided to see what the difference it would make facing the windmill straight on with the fan. There was a tremendous difference and it actually generated electricity! The best results shown when we sat the fan higher up off the table using text books. On the highest speed of the fan, our windmill generated 84 volts of electricity which isn’t nothing to brag about but not that bad for being the first time doing a project like this.

5 TEST RESULTS The fan has three speeds. High, medium, and low. We tested the windmill on all three speeds several times and we found that it performed best when the fan sat higher up off the table. On the lowest speed we generated about (.65 volts) of electricity. The second speed generated (.72 volts) of electricity. On the highest speed the windmill generated (.84 volts) of electricity.
