2 Christmas (December 25) is a religious festival, which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. The Gospel tells us that He was born in a small cave in the cold and frost (as also the song says). As the Church teaches, the liturgical season of Christmas starts four Sundays before the 25Decemberth, and this period is called Advent. Back to Menù

3 The Panettone is a traditional Christmas cake, coming from Milan, but spread throughout Italy. The Pandoro also is a Christmas sweet, very soft, produced in Verona, is commonly eaten with sugar icing on it. The Torrone is very hard and is a splint Back to Menù

4 Crib Back to Menù The crib is an Italian invention, of San Francisco who built the first Nativity in Greccio (Umbria). It represents the scene of the birth of Jesus Christ

5 Christmas tree Back to Menù The Christmas tree is a small fir tree that we put in our homes (often fake) and decorated with lights, ribbons and balls. Then, we put our presents under it.

6 Santa Claus Back to Menù Santa Claus is a fantastic figure invented for younger children. It is said that, during the night, he puts the presents under the Christmas tree. He is dressed in red and has a big belly and a long beard.

7 Comet Star Back to Menù The “Comet Star” is the star that guided the Magi to the cabin of Jesus Christ. Today is one of the symbols of Christmas.
