June 2008Peer mentoring 8 The mentor’s role It depends on the facility, but generally a peer mentor: Welcomes new caregivers Gives constructive feedback to mentees Teaches clinical skills, policies, and procedures Leads by example Offers guidance in problem-solving Can act as a “go-between” for staff and supervisors
