Engineering is a 4 year college degree. You also need to take many courses concerning whatever field of engineering you’re going into (chemical engineers often minor in chemistry, etc.) but all use math extensively.

Salaries and Hours Computer engineers start at about $70,000, chemical engineering at $66,500, and aerospace engineering at $64,000. These 3 degrees have the highest starting salary of any degree you can get (as of 2012). Work hours for an engineer can be between 8-11 hours, averaging at about 9 hours

Lifestyle and Region Depending on the type of engineering degree you get, you can support a very luxurious lifestyle or at least a very comfy life. Engineers work just about anywhere, but they can excel in places like San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and other places full of innovators. Houston is also an engineering hub, since it’s considered to be the energy capital of the world. This would fall under the science/engineering career cluster

Characteristics 1. Some of the values necessary to an engineer are open mindedness and innovation, along with the desire for money as an incentive to be creative 2. Some tasks and responsibilities of an engineer would be planning out processes and helping people complete projects efficiently. Usually hired by a third party 3. Engineers work with data for the most part, but also collaborate with people and work on/design things 4. The work place of an engineer can vary greatly. They could work in a factory, an office, a farm, or even in space. It all depends on your employer 5. Some aptitudes of a good engineer are: analytical skills, math and science skills, teamwork, and communication skills 6. In an age of technology, engineers are going to be around for a long time as they are essential for the progress of technology 7. Internationally, engineering can take you a long way. You could be hired to design the new BMW in Germany, design a new factory in China, or create an oil pipeline from Russia to Sweden

Motivation I want to become an engineer because fixing things and applying my problem solving skills to real life is easy to me and fun.

An associate’s degree in applied science in one of 5 career areas is required (aircraft and missile maintenance, electronics and telecommunications, allied health, logistics and resources, or public and support services)

Salaries and Hours Straight out of college as a lieutenant, you’ll be making $34,000 basic pay but you also get free to low-cost insurance and lots of other benefits. In 4 years, you can make $47,000-$55,000 as a captain The work hours of an Air Force pilot are different all the time. Sometimes you might be home for a few days, and others you’re overseas on missions for 10-14 days

Lifestyle and Region A pilot can have a very cozy lifestyle even though their pay is modest since the base they stay on provides them with much of what they need An air force pilot can operate anywhere from an Air Force base like Selfridge, or in Afghanistan flying supplies to troops Air Force Pilot would be under Government and Public Administration since it’s a job in the military

Characteristics 1. A strong sense of respect, discipline, and morals are required of an Air Force pilot 2. Some tasks of being a military pilot are flying missions over seas for disaster relief or military relief. 3. An Air Force pilot works equally with data, people, and things (fuel efficiency, keeping planes in condition, and interacting with other pilots) 4. An Air Force pilot gets to see all kinds of different cultures and societies 5. Air Force pilots need to be quick thinking, analytical, and precise in everything they do. You also must have 20/20 vision if you want to be a pilot 6. Air Force pilots will be around for quite a while, as long as our country still has a military 7. US Air Force pilots will be active internationally as well. Either for training pilots in other countries, or flying supplies overseas for a country just hit with an earthquake

Motivation I would also like to be an Air Force pilot because you make an impact on the world and you get to go lots of different places while doing so.
