Now you will work with your partner to complete the assignment. Explain your sketches to each other, beginning with box 1. Take turns telling each other what you drew in the box. Then, decide together what you should WRITE in box 1. on the right side of the paper. You should write at least two sentences to summarize the story so far. DON’T look back in the power point and copy what it says there. Create your OWN sentences. You and your partner will probably come up with some very good sentences of your own! Do the same thing for each of the remaining boxes, discussing both the sketches and your writing with your partner. Now use colored pencils to color and complete your sketches. Make sure your name, the date, and the class is written in the upper right hand corner of your paper. Next slide

Using the paper provided, work with your partner. Write a paragraph, telling how the tree took a journey without moving a step. When you write the paragraph, remember to write an introductory sentence. Then include your responses to the following questions in your paragraph. Was it a “real” journey or trip? Why do you say this? How was the tree’s journey like history? Write a definition of history in your paragraph that uses the ideas from the tree’s story. What is history all about?
