Receiving Accuracy Attention to the details of your business Communication ! High Standards of Customer Service How to avoid Common Errors

Receiving Accuracy WHAT IS THE GOAL? 99.60% as a team What does that mean? Pallets errors % 2000 599.75% 2000 699.70% 2000 799.65% 2000 899.60% 2000 999.55% 2000 1099.50% 2000 1299.40% 2000 1599.25% 2000 2099.00% 1500 6 99.60% 1000 4 99.60%

Common Errors (QE) Quantity Error comes from miscounting, damages, stray freight, bad pallets, mislabeling, TI-HI changes, switched tags, mixed freight (WI) Wrong Item comes from mislabeling, switched tags, mixed freight (NT) Not There comes from put away in the wrong slot, penalty box after put away, put away in wrong order, penalty box and never put away, pallet put in pallet return RUSHING TO COMPLETE YOUR WORK! How do we avoid this? What can YOU do to prevent these errors????

Top 10 ways we make errors: Counting Wrong! (TiHis, cases, pallets) Someone moved the freight, It wasn’t me! Damaged cases not reported or processed through QA. Unloader upstacked onto an already tagged pallet Hauled to the wrong aisle. Alpha order putaway by 2 different people. Wrong slot, right aisle…how does this happen? Left in the Penalty Box, should have been fixed. Sell by dates! (use the calendar) RUSHING TO COMPLETE YOUR WORK!

Unloaders Always be on the lookout for bad pallets Separate all mixed freight- do not be fooled by similar looking boxes Keep pallets of same item together Know the LOS times! You are not the final step in receiving, you’re the first! Ask for help early. Leave room for receivers to move in between pallets & count TI & HI for each item Tell receivers about any damages, TI-HI changes, shortages or overages as soon as possible. Be on the lookout for same item on multiple POs

Receivers Altered Freight Bills –use the practice stamp/balance summary to ensure your numbers are correct before putting totals on the Bill of Lading. –Never sign a BOL until you have counted the freight Missing LOS –coordinate with the door runner and unloaders, ask for help early. Know the LOS times! Changing TI-HI –Be sure to check with QA and your coach/Asst. coach to maximize our efforts Maintain the entire door range, prioritizing by LOS times, not by ease of slotting. Establish a routine, your good habits will keep you from making an error. More...

Receivers, continued Check and double check your quantities –compare your PO vs. the Bill of Lading (use BOL vs actual received, NOT PO) –If you find a problem, ask your unloader, double check your count. Measure case height, width, length and call QA Freight Bills: –Do not use hand written quantities on the Bill of Lading. –Do not mistake the Tractor # for the Trailer # Always fill out O/S/D report when required, turn in with the PO to be keyed. Overs and shorts are suspicious, double check your TIHIs. Do not exceed a 10% overage on a backhaul without approval

Haulers Be on the lookout for bad pallets, damages, and mixed or stray freight. Haul pallets of same item in order for proper putaway Ask for help early when you need it Do not place pallets past the slot or in the wrong aisle! Only place stray or problem freight in the Penalty Box Give the lift drivers a heads up before bringing a large amount of pallets to the same aisle

Lift Drivers Check the slot. Double check the slot. Check for Alpha Order in pushback slots. Be on the lookout for bad pallets, damages, and mixed or stray freight. Always fill out problem pallet labels when bringing pallets to the penalty box. Triple check the slot!

What are the 3 Basic beliefs?

Who is your Customer?

How will we ensure our high standards of quality are met? Find our own mistakes and fix them Receivers, make sure what you slotted made it to the slot! How can we check that? Lift Drivers, make sure what you put away ended up in the correct slot in the correct order! Review every error we receive and make sure we learn from it Share lessons learned with others so we improve as a team Communicate, communicate, communicate! Anything questionable, write it down and check it before going home.
