Save the Date: Rat Prevention training scheduled for Thursday June 3rd, 2010 – 10 AM to 5 PM Where will it happen? AEA’s Energy Management Training Center 105 Bruckner Boulevard Bronx NY 10454 Taught by: Gil Bloom, certified entomologist, CUNY faculty member, recognized consultant, writer and industry trainer. Course Description: The goal of this training is to encourage best practices in preventative maintenance and to help neighborhoods experiencing high rates of infestation remediate problem conditions. This course also includes a segment on bed bug control. Also, This course had been approved for three NYSDEC recertification credits in categories 7A,7F,8. In the past rodent control in New York City has been reactive in nature, responding to complaints from city residents which often occurred after a rodent population had established itself. In response the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has developed a more proactive stance and as part of that program is providing an enjoyable and valuable course which teaches a defensive approach to assist in preventing rats on your property. This full-day training is targeted to superintendents, building staff, property managers, homeowners, interested tenants and the local business community. Attendees will learn about the steps building operators and homeowners can take to achieve a rat-free property through an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach. The training includes a multi media classroom presentation by knowledgeable experts with practical field experience. All Bronx participants who complete the training will receive a rat management certificate, and a rat-resistant trash can as well as an ability to institute a rat management plan for their property. Directions: 6 Local Train to Brook Ave. Exit subway and walk five blocks south toward the overpass on Brook Ave. Turn right onto Bruckner Boulevard.
