Aswan Dam project, Egypt River Nile flooded sometimes and did not supply enough regular water to farms at other times Aswan Dam built in 1960. ½ km wide creating a large artificial lake called Lake Nasser. Water pumped from Lake Nasser to farmlands to irrigate the land and help crops grow. Building the dam has left positive and negative effects on the people and land of Egypt
