Our Survey We asked people what they thought about the variety of restaurants in Poynton. *For a small village I think there is a good range * * I like trying food from different countries and in Poynton I can do that * *It’s great having a good range of international cuisine on your doorstep * * We like Italian food and have some good Italian restaurants here *

4. Coalmining has had a profound effect on Poynton. The village would look very different if there had been no coal in the area. In any study of mining in Poynton we must also look at the history of mining in Nor bury, especially in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, when there were very close links between Poynton and Nor bury due to geological boundaries being different from township boundaries.
