VOCABULARY WORDS POPPA’S NEW PANTS Please go over the definitions for these vocabulary words with your student. There will be a test on them on Friday. Draped - hung loosely in folds Fabric - cloth Hem - to fold back and sew down the edges Mended - repaired by sewing Pattern - a repeated design or decoration Plaid - a pattern of stripes that cross each other Rustling - quick, soft, fluttering sound Created by Mr. Jones

Draped - hung loosely in folds The Kimonos were draped on the folding divider. The draped tent was set up for the wedding.

Fabric - cloth Fabric is used to make clothes and bedding such as quilts.

Hem - to fold back and sew down the edges The hem on this apron has been sewn.

Mended - repaired by sewing A button on a shirt often needs to be mended.

Pattern - a repeated design or decoration These patterns of animals are found on scrapbook paper.

Plaid - a pattern of stripes that cross each other Plaid is very vibrant fabric with colorful patterns that is often used in clothing and for cooler weather.

Rustling - quick, soft, fluttering sound There was a rustling in the trees before the wildebeests emerged from the forest to drink. There was a strange light, a rustling of the bushes, and then emerged a strange looking creature with a shiny finger.
