Types of Evidence / Fact: a true statement ex – The world’s oceans contain salt water / Statistic: Numbers/data that show how much of something ex - 89% of teenagers have lied to their parents or teachers at least once / Anecdote: a brief story ex – There was once a man who enjoyed eating hotdogs so much, that his stomach exploded. / Quotation: an exact copy of something someone has said ex - “Ask not what your country can do for you…” (Kennedy). / Paraphrase: Stating a quote in your own words ex – John F.
