Why are there ocean tides?

Every 6 hours there is either a low tide or a high tide. 2 of each per day

Because the moon is revolving around the Earth, the time that high tide and low tide occurs changes by about 50 minutes each day.

The Sun also affects the tides

When the Sun, Moon,and Earth are lined up during a new or full moon, The tide waters go up and down more than normal.

When the Sun, Earth and Moon make a right angle at first or last quarter, The ocean water is being pulled in all directions so the tides are smaller.

Each month there are two neap tides and two spring tides.

During spring tide, the water gets deeper at high tide and shallower at low tide than during a neap tide.
