3. History Facts Every Flag has a particular history behind the design. Every flag has a date when they were accepted as the official state flag. Every flag was designed by someone in particular.

4. Example of history The original flag was designed on a piece of unbleached cotton. Flag first flown in Sonoma, California on June 14, 1846. The bear was a California Grizzly bear nicknamed “Cuffy.” The bear stood for strength. The five-point star is a nod to the Republic of Texas.
