A media literate public must be able to: Examine the purpose of various media forms Evaluate persuasive techniques of media messages Deconstruct media to determine the central idea of a message and how effectively that message has been conveyed

Viewing/ Representing Media ‘text’ Design elements Interpretations, analysis, production of images, messages, meanings Video, photograph, web page, billboard, editorial, illustration Shape, line, color, texture Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills

What about TAKS? The TAKS will test the ability of a student to analyze and evaluate culturally diverse written texts and visual representations. Items that address the viewing and representing piece may require students to: – examine purpose of various media forms – evaluate persuasive techniques of media messages – deconstruct media to determine the central idea of a message and how effectively that message has been conveyed
