What do you know about Ellen M. H. Gates, the poetess of the poem?
She was born in 1835. In Torington, Connecticut. USA. She wrote religious songs, hymns. Her well known magazines were: “The Home Of the Soul” and “Eternity” She died in 1920.

Fair beautiful hands, a sculptor’s dream Aged, wrinkled hands; most beautiful to a child Mother’s hands are the symbol of love. Mother and child’s love is unconditional, not confined to physical beauty. She strives hard for the comfort of her children so one should express his love before she goes away.
