Child Care Work Group Supported development and implementation of DHSS’s MO Eat Smart and Move Smart standards – Inclusion of Eat Smart standards into MO Accreditation criteria

Child Care Work Group Reviewed current requirements for licensed child care to determine policy options for recommending changes, including: – Current meal standards and requirements influencing foods served – Current standards regarding availability of water – Current standards in relation to physical activity standards

Child Care Work Group Launched Wellness Roundtables for Child Care – an annual (now bi-annual) networking opportunity to build wellness related skills/practices for child care staff

Child Care Work Group Provided comment on the new CACFP regulations for meal pattern requirements in April 2015

Child Care Work Group Provided feedback on recommendation to update the child care regulations within the report that was presented by the Subcommittee on Childhood Obesity to the Missouri Children’s Service Commission (CSC) in December 2014: – Subsequent development of a plan to implement the recommendation – Inclusion of CSC recommendation on Child Care Working Group Annual Plan 2015-16

Schools Work Group Resource list Working with Children’s Services Commission on the formal recommendations for improving the health of children and reducing childhood obesity Implementation plan for the Office for Student Wellness

Worksites Work Group Training sessions and technical assistance provided to implement worksite wellness Programs

Worksites Work Group Administered a survey to school nurses to learn more about worksite wellness in schools

Worksites Work Group Incorporated worksite wellness into professional development opportunities such as the Coordinated School Health Conference and Conference on the Young Years

Built Environment Work Group Established the Missouri Livable Streets Advisory Committee.

Built Environment Work Group Livable Streets Advocacy Trainings held in several communities (Kirksville, Ozark, Kansas City, Cape Girardeau). Provided technical assistance to 30 communities around Livable Streets.

Built Environment Work Group Helped to impact Missouri State Department Of Transportation (MODOT) Design Policy Standards. Provided a Design Workshop for design professionals.

Built Environment Work Group Provided education to partners to help the Missouri General Assembly pass HCR 23- the Complete Streets Resolution (urges MODOT, cities, counties, MPOs, RPCs to follow CS principles and adopt CS policies).

Food Systems Work Group Instrumental in providing support for administration of the innovation funds from Incarnate Word. – Six communities chosen to receive funding based on work that had already begun around partnerships and coalitions. Lexington, Lafayette County, Springfield, Independence, Joplin and Salem.

Food Systems Work Group The three year grant allowed each community to work with partners to identify projects to support that would increase access to good food. This year (2015) is the final year of the three year grant cycle.

Policy Work Group Grew the committee and started to define some policy areas on which to focus. Began to determine a process for sharing and gather direction and feedback from the other work groups on policy areas on which they would like to see movement and leadership from our group.
