Reflection Symmetry Where one half is of an object is the reflection of the other.

Reflection Symmetry in Polygons When looking at reflection symmetry, we are looking for LINES OF SYMMETRY, this is where, if we folded a shape along a line, it would fit perfectly on the other half.

Reflection Symmetry in Nature Have a look at some of these things from nature and see if you can see the lines of symmetry:

You will find many examples…

You will even find Radial Symmetry… RADIAL SYMMETRY is where the line of symmetry rotates on a point. Like in a Circle… Or in a Flower…

Task: Take one of the objects from the front table, your job is draw the other half of the object using a mirror to help you. When you have finished, you can use a mirror to see if your drawing looks accurate. See how many of the objects you can draw.

Use of Symmetry by Humans Human-kind have used symmetry for many years in many different ways… In Architecture…

In symbolism…

Even in cars…

We even use Radial Symmetry…

Can you think of any other times that humans have used Symmetry?
