What is a Portfolio? Flat case for documents: a large flat case for carrying documents such as maps, photographs, or drawings.

How will we use them in ART? Students will use them to store graded 2-D work and projects in progress. Keep ALL your work! We will organize it every 41/2 weeks and check your progress. Art Journal Folders may be stored in you portfolio too. Portfolios must stay at school until the end of the term in December- then you may take them home.

Student Portfolios These are just a few examples of Portfolios made by CRMS students. Hopefully you will get some ideas from their work.

Tools for Assignment: Students may use pencil on first day Color Media like colored pencils and markers Drawing idea worksheets for letters Rulers, compasses Your imagination!

Using Perspective: Perspective is the technique used to represent a three-dimensional world (what we see) on a two-dimensional surface (a piece of paper or canvas) in a way that looks realistic and accurate, as we see it in nature. Perspective is used to create an illusion of space and depth on a flat surface. The rules of perspective applied in Western art as we known them today developed during the Renaissance. Prior to this, there wasn't an expectation that paintings would be realistic, or naturalistic, representations of life. Instead paintings were stylized and symbolic. For instance, the size a figure was painted could indicate their importance relative to the other figures, and individual colors had significance greater than their actual hue.
