What this day school will do

A bit about me...

Let’s find out about you!

Upwood Day School: 5 March Introductions What do we mean by climate change? Earth’s climate machine Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Climate in the past Geo-engineering Quiz

How much do you agree? Climate change is happening. People are responsible for climate change. Give a number between 1 and 10 10 means: I completely agree 1 means: I completely disagree

Film clip What year are we looking at? How many scenes can you identify?

Week 1: What’s all the fuss about?

Scientists agree 97%

Observed Changes in the Climate System (1/2) Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, and since the 1950s, many of the observed changes are unprecedented over decades to millennia. The atmosphere and ocean have warmed, the amounts of snow and ice have diminished, sea level has risen, and the concentrations of greenhouse gases have increased.

Understanding the Climate System and its Recent Changes (1/1) Human influence on the climate system is clear. This is evident from the increasing greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere, positive radiative forcing, observed warming, and understanding of the climate system.

Future Global and Regional Climate Change (1/2) Continued emissions of greenhouse gases will cause further warming and changes in all components of the climate system. Limiting climate change will require substantial and sustained reductions of greenhouse gas emissions.
