Carbohydrates Most foods contain carbohydrates major source of energy for the body produced by photosynthetic plants and contain only carbon There are two types simple and complex. Examples breads, pasta, pizza, potatoes, chips, soda, candies, cereals

Fats may be either solid or liquid Animal tissue and vegetable oil contain fats Examples: animal fats lard fish oil, and butter plant fats peanut, soya bean and sunflower

Protein Proteins contain 4 Calories per gram Keeps your skin healthy your body uses protein to make red blood cells that carrie oxygen Examples: meat, fish, eggs, milk, and legumes

Fibre fibre can prevent certain diseases The term fiber refers to carbohydrates that cannot be digested lowers your risk of diabetes and heart disease helps you feel full, so you wont overeat

Vitamins Vitamin D helps your bones Vitamin A helps you see Vitamin C helps your body heal Vitamin B helps your body make protein and energy Need them to grow There are two types of vitamins: fat soluble and water soluble

Minerals Helps body grow and heal Natural chemical Minerals help your body grow Makes strong bones Examples calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, zinc, and iodine

Water has the chemical formula H 2 O is the most abundant compound on Earth's surface In nature it exists in liquid, solid, and gaseous states
