4 1984 - was set in Oceania but otherwise known as Britain in modern day. Government known as Big Brother has complete control over the people. Their Power ranges from their military, spying on people every second of the day and being able to control the past. The Expendables - Vilenna, a South American Island in the Gulf of Mexico. A CIA operative hires a team of mercenaries to eliminate a Latin dictator and a renegade CIA agent. Has been taken over by bribery and brute force by a corrupt ex CIA agent. George Orwell, Big Brother is watching your house! - Britain, where George Orwell used to live. Statistics show 4.2 million CCTV cameras in Britain. Spy cameras everywhere constantly surveying your life

5 1984- Winston, Julia and O’Brien. The Expendables - General Garza, Sandra, Ross George Orwell, Big Brother is watching your house! – Shop keepers, citizens, business owners and the Government

6 1984  Big Brother, Inner Party, Outer party The Expendables  Vilenna Government, Overpowering Dictatorship Big Brother is watching your house  The British Government using funds and technology to always know what is going on every day

7 1984  Big Brother and the Party’s use their power to control every single aspect of day to day life in Oceania. For example changing the past to make the government look perfect and kidnapping and killing people who disobeyed them. The Expendables  General Garza was already corrupted as it was, but when he was bribed with money and power the situation became far worse.  His Military destroyed and used the peasants for their own gain, stole from them and even killed them. Big Brother is watching you  “One fear is a nation wide standard for CCTV cameras which would make it possible for all information gathered by individuals cameras to be shared”  Without residents even knowing, their every movements and actions are being watched and noted down on record.

8 1984  Big Brother and the Inner Party use many methods for gathering Information such as Tele screens, Though police and even torture. The Expendables  General Garza and his army use segregation and torture to acquire information from the peasants and foreigners such as Ross and Sandra. Big Brother is watching you  “The excessive use of CCTV and other information gathering was ‘creating a climate of suspicion’.”

9 1984  Short pithy statements, colourless, bland statements. “War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength” The Expendables  Limited dialogue, short statements. “Maggie (to Ross) if you need me, call me, or ill kill you!” Big Brother is watching you  Statistics, short sentences. “Britain has a staggering 4.2 million CCTV cameras – one for every 14 people in the country”
