2 INTRODUCTION Mobile has also become a very significant source from communications points of view. It is a fact, that a massive amount of deal can be executed by means of utilizing mobile facility.

3 DEFINITION M-commerce (mobile commerce) is the buying and selling of goods and services through wireless handheld devices such as cellular telephone and personal digital assistants (PDAs). Known as next- generation e-commerce.

4 KEY FACTORS Today’s m-commerce is all about applications and services on the mobile phone. It is not about capacity, it is about content. M-commerce enables users to access the Internet without needing to find a place to plug in. Mobile extends your ability to make transactions across time and location and creates new transaction opportunities.

5 MOBILE ENTERTAINMENT Mobile Gaming Currently there is virtually no wireless gaming existent. Because of the limited capacity of GSM, there are no multi-player games for use over the mobile network on the market. Within GSM phones, only very simplistic single-player games are available, such as Snake, Mobile trivia, Navy strike and Stock market etc.

6 Mobile Music The availability of portable MP3 players will soon lead to music devices integrated with a mobile phone; Samsung has already developed an MP3-phone. Music titles will be stored locally at the mobile device. Mobile Betting Mobile betting will become a very interesting application for m-commerce, because it is time-critical, as with horse races, or it involves a lot of money, such as Lotto.

7 TODAYS MARKET Mobile commerce applications that combine the advantages of mobile communications with existing e-commerce services will be very successful. Some of the key drivers are: 1)Ubiquity Ubiquity is the most obvious advantage of a wireless terminal. A mobile terminal in the form of a smart phone or a communicator.

8 2)Reachability Reach ability is important for many people who want to be in touch and be available for other people. 3)Security Mobile security technology is already emerging in the form of SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology. Security factor is now a days very much important and common to stop the unauthorized use.

9 4)Convenience Convenience is an attribute that characterises a mobile terminal. Enhanced functionality that will become available, based on technological advances. 5)Localization Localization of services and applications will add significant value to mobile devices.The mobile operator will soon know where the user is physically located.

10 6)Instant Connectivity Instant connectivity to the Internet from a mobile phone is becoming a reality already and will fast- forward with the introduction of GPRS services New wireless devices will become the preferred way to access information. 7)Personalization Personalization is, to a very limited extent, already available today. Information and transaction feeds via mobile portals, will move customisation to new levels, leading ultimately to the mobile device becoming a real life-tool.

12 NON-PHYSICAL TERMINALS Micro browser The microbrowser is a software product that is used to access the web from a handheld device. Blue tooth Bluetooth is a low power radio technology that is being developed to replace the cables and infrared links for distances up to ten meters.

13 Synchronisation Synchronisation is a key technology enabling mobile commerce, because there will be demand for both web-centric and local applications on a PC or any type of mobile device. Synchronisation is the process by which identical versions of applications and data are maintained wherever and on whichever device the user chooses.
