3 NYLA 2011 3 Mission The Mission of the HS2C Committee of the Western New York Library Resources Council is to seek ways in which to promote information literacy within the instructional framework of the educational community of Western New York. The HS2C College Committee seeks to identify ways in which information literacy can be effectively addressed and implemented throughout a student’s educational experience.

11 NYLA 2011 11 Goal 1 Organization of workshops where information literacy skills and practices can be addressed. Task Group: “Professional Development” Current Objective: Plan one event for the 2011/2012 school year that addresses issues pertaining to the Information Literacy continuum. Explore funding for this event.

12 NYLA 2011 12 Goal 2 Explore the current research and trends in the Information Literacy continuum, including guidelines and best practices. Task Group: “Information Literacy Continuum” Current Objective: Examine the New York State Common Core Learning Standards and identify ways in which it will impact Information literacy instruction at both the high school and college levels.

13 NYLA 2011 13 Goal 3 Creation of a framework for inter-campus visits among students, teachers, and information specialists. Task Group: “Collaboration” Current Objective: Up-date survey and explore ways to implement its results.
