7. Orbits and Rotations The earth orbits around the sun, and the moon rotates around the earth. We see the same side of the moon no matter where we are on earth because the moon has a synchronous rotation.

12. Why do Stars move across the sun? To us on earth, it appears that all the stars are moving across the sun. This happens because the earth is rotating while everything else in the sky is standing still.
