October Newsletter 2015 Contacts During sessions : - 01604 785123 Out of hours: - 07941 182487 Email: - info@bizzy-bears.com Autumn Term We are already half way through our first half term and all our new children are settling in well. So far this term the children have enjoyed learning about and experiencing topics on ourselves, our families and Autumn. Information regarding our themes and planned activities are displayed on the curriculum notice board in the corridor, from Monday 5 th October you can see our theme of the week displayed on the main front door. Children are welcome to bring in items relating to our themes. We also record daily activities on our ‘Today We’ board in the corridor. Newsletter www.bizzy-bears.com Tempest Photography On Wednesday October 7 th we have a photographer coming into Pre-School to take individual and family photographs. All children and families are welcome, the photographer will be at Bizzy Bears from 8.50am until 11.30am. Please see a member of staff to arrange a time slot if your child is not in that day or if you wish your child to have their photograph taken with siblings. If you do not want your child’s photograph taken please inform a member of staff. Children’s Online Learning Journeys We are holding an information evening on Monday 5 th October 6.00pm-6.30pm at Bizzy Bears Preschool, to share important information about your child’s new online learning journal. We will be providing information about what you can expect to see in your child’s learning journal, how you as a parent can contribute and how to register. If you are unable to attend this information evening we will be proving parents with information/login forms from Tuesday 6 th October each morning and afternoon at the front of the Pavilion. Thank you It was lovely to see so many families join us for our two sing along sessions, the children really enjoyed sharing their favourite songs and parents have fed back what an enjoyable experience it was and a great opportunity to learn new songs. Please look out for future dates for the next sing along sessions! Policies We have reviewed and amended our Safeguarding Children Policy. A copy of our policies and procedures are available to parents and carers and are located in the changing rooms and on our website.

New Outdoor Area As you will have seen, work is now well under way to construct our new outdoor area. We are hoping all the building work will be completed within the next 2 weeks and then we can move in and begin creating the features and areas that we have planned. We have a long wish list of wants, if any parents or family members can help us please let us know. Wanted; Old car, lorry or tractor tyres, a water butt, a small wooden boat, garden trellis, guttering, plastic pipes and tubing, book shelf, small cupboard with doors, saucepans, baking trays, kitchen utensils, kitchen scales, broom handles, gravel, turf, garden canes, milk crates, paint, pebbles…………….. Dates for your diary Monday 5 th October – Tapestry Information evening Wednesday 7th October –Tempest Photography Monday 26 th October to Friday 30 th October –Half term Monday 2 nd November – New term starts School Admissions If your child turns 4 before 31 st August 2016 its time to apply for their primary school place. You can make your application and find helpful tips and information online at www.northamptonshire.gov.uk /admissions, or you can apply online at any Northamptonshire County Council library(there will be no charge for using the computers to complete your application or for accessing the emails regarding your school application). You can also apply by post by contacting the school admissions team and asking for an application form to be posted to you: www.northamptonshire.gov.uk admissions@Northamptonshire.gov.ukadmissions@Northamptonshire.gov.uk or 0300 126 1000 For more information you can visit a parent’s information event which are being held on various dates in the county: Northampton central library on 13 th October,10am-2pm and November 9 th 10am-1pm The deadline for applications is Friday 15 th January 2016 at 5pm. Weather As the weather is starting to turn colder please could you send your child to Pre-school with a named coat, hat etc and a pair of wellington boots as outdoor play still remains an important part of our curriculum. Children’s Cloakrooms Bizzy Bears has sole use of the Pavilion between the hours of 8.30am-3.15am after that time other uses may use the hall and the changing rooms. So please can we ask that all children’s personal belongings(coats, bags, shoes, wellingtons etc) and art work are taken home at the end of each day. We have limited storage so are unable to store them securely. Sickness Policy All children are expected to be well on arrival at Pre school. If you feel your child is unwell enough to require Calpol/Nurofen or any other Paracetamol product before coming to Pre school, we would ask that you keep them at home. Please refer to our sickness policy for more information which can be found on our website or alternatively there is a paper copy of all our policies in the changing room.
