Five top tips Help you child learn to prepare for the everyday. Talk positively about coming to school – it’s another step and we would love it to be one of many on a great adventure. Continue to share your child’s interests and activities, talk about what they are doing, get them used to being asked questions. Help them get used to the new clothes and possessions and get to know what their name label looks like. Read stories, sing songs, be active and enjoy the summer so your child has lots to talk about when they come back in September.

Organisation Continuing through the Foundation Stage Curriculum, with the addition of PE, RE and phonics. Red and Purple are registration groups and key worker groups. Classes are supported by a team of Teaching Assistants. All staff in Foundation will be teaching all the children either in small groups or key groups.

What to expect in the first weeks Dropping off and picking up. You are very welcome to come into class with your child when the morning bell has rung and help them tidy their things away before you say good-bye. Come in through Foundation stage garden. Every morning the children gather together for a settling activity before registration. Picking up at end of day. Children will come out by key-worker group a child at a time to be picked up from the Foundation Stage Garden. Picking up at any other time will be through the office.

First days… Sessions will be a mixture of direct teaching, child-initiated learning, adult support activities, and independent learning. Continuous provision and free-flow play continues Learning through play and experience remains at the heart of what we do. Curriculum is presented through themes across whole school. Some children find the move into a new setting exhausting.
