7.1 Three- Dimensional Figures I can classify and draw three-dimensional figures.
2
Three-Dimensional A figure that does not lie in a plane. Is not flat One flat surface on a 3D solid is called a face. Each segment formed by the intersection of two faces (where two faces meet) is called an edge.
3
Prism 3D figure with 2 parallel and congruent polygonal faces, called bases. Other faces are rectangles. Height is the length of the segment joining the two bases.
4
Cubes A 3D shape where all faces are squares.
5
Cylinder A 3D figure with two circular bases
6
Pyramid Has triangular faces that meet at a single point. That point is called a vertex. Has a base that is a polygon A polygon is a 2D shape made with straight lines. Pyramids are named by the shape of the base.
7
Cones One circular base and one vertex. The height is the distance between the vertex and the center of the base.
8
Sphere 3D figure such that it is the set of all points in space that are the same distance from a center point. Shape of a ball
9
Name the Figure Name figures 1, 2, and 3 1= triangular prism 2 = cone 3 = cylinder
10
Drawing Prisms Draw a polygon Draw a congruent polygon Connect vertices using dashed lines for hidden edges
