IP Addresses By Michelle Lin and Carmen Hui
2
IP Addresses IP stands for Internet Protocol. An IP Address is a unique number assigned to a device in a computer network. In other words, IP addresses are unique identifiers for your computer. IP Addresses are stored in text files in each individual user’s computer.
3
Functions of IP Addresses IP addresses function as not only a host interface identification for a device, but also to locate an address. Ann Internet Protocol Address is 4 sets of numbers between 0 & 255, joined by a period. This is the means by networks are traversed to allow information to find a given destination.
4
Sharing IP Addresses Sharing IP addresses can jeopardize the stability of each website on the server. Cumulative problems can arise for not only your website, but thousands of others. Having a unique IP address increases the stability and reliability of your websites. This means that if a website on your server gets its IP address blocked, it would not affect your website since it's not sharing the same IP address!
