Why VWCH Should Fly Q & A Part 1 Patient & Family Centered Rounding Q1: Will Anesthetists/CRNAs be involved in these rounds? A1: Not at this time, the times of a patient's procedures will not likely coincide with patient and family centered rounds. Anesthetists do meet with the patient during a pre-precedure visit.

Why VWCH Should Fly Q & A Part 1 Patient & Family Centered Rounding Q2: Can representatives from patient accounts provide a list of the various bills patients will receive from services? A2: General information regarding hospital’s bills will be available in the guest services guide. Based on this suggestion, information has also been added to the hospital website under patient info, patient financial services. Due to the confidentiality of patient financial information a separate visit can be arranged.

Why VWCH Should Fly Q & A Part 1 Patient & Family Centered Rounding Q: Can we post signs in the patient rooms, similar to the housekeeping table tents, saying “Ask Questions” or something about no question being a dumb question? A: All staff members are encouraged to end every interaction by asking the patient if there is anything else you can do. “Mr. Jones, it was a pleasure talking with you. Is there anything else I can do for you right now?” This prompting question encourages our patients to ask linger questions in a way that a sign never could.

Why VWCH Should Fly Q & A Part 1 Patient & Family Centered Rounding Q: Will radiology be involved in the rounds or can a member of RAD explain the test and time frame for results? A: Radiology staff will be working on implementing scripting prior to special procedures instead of participating in these rounds. This scripting will be used on all patients.

Why VWCH Should Fly UPDATE Patient & Family Centered Rounding These rounds will begin on March 11th with Dr. Sell’s patients first.
