Monitoring Institute – Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (April to September, 2012) District Virudhnagar Tamil Nadu – MPL Kammapatti Middle School Srivilliputhur Parents of the children of the school are against the engagement of SC Cook. The Block Development Officer has proposed to transfer the cook stating that the Kambalathu Naicker community people having a peculiar practice of not eating food cooked by people belonging to any other community.

Revision of MDMS guidelines The draft guidelines after incorporating the following major changes in the Scheme have been prepared: Upward revision of cooking cost Introduction of separate component for honorarium TA at par with PDS rate for special category States Determination of cost of kitchen-cum-stores on the basis of plinth area norm and State Schedule Rate. MME for smaller State @ Rs. 30 lakh per district. States’ observations to refine the guidelines further

Reimbursement of Additional Funds on account of withdrawn subsidy on LPG cylinders The MPNG withdrew the subsidy on LPG cylinders from 18.9.2012 and advised that subsidy may be met from the Scheme. The Ministry of Finance has concurred the proposal to reimburse additional funds with some suggestions. The proposal from Andhra Pradesh (33%), Haryana (74%), Nagaland (79%), Uttar Pradesh (59%), Uttarakhand (47%), Mizoram (50%), Maharashtra (14%), Jharkhand (5%), West Bengal (6%) is awaited.

Construction of Kitchen-cum-Store 9,55,479 kitchen-cum-stores were sanctioned from 2006-07 till 2011-12. 5,90,394 (62%) kitchen-cum-stores have been constructed so far. Construction is in progress in r/o 111660 (12%) kitchen-cum-stores. Construction is yet to start in Andhra Pradesh (69319), Assam (13087), Maharashtra (46222), Jharkhand (26455), West Bengal (7531), Bihar (15934), Uttar Pradesh (12738) and Odisha (10930). States viz. Maharashtra and Haryana are requested to submit the proposals for remaining requirements.

%Construction of Kitchen-cum-Store The data for Meghalaya, Manipur and J&K is in match with ASER data. ASER data for Arunachal Pradesh shows availability of kitchen cum store in 54% schools.

MDM MIS Portal Ministry of HRD has launched web enabled MIS for MDMS. All States / UTs have completed annual data entry for more than 11.16 lakh schools Monthly data entry into the portal is low and requires personal attention.
