Footloose industries Definition: Footloose industries can locate anywhere, their success does not depend on location. This is what has happened in the present day – businesses are rarely tied to raw materials or forced to have an office locally because of where the workers live, as they were in the past. 5 mins

Land use in the UK has changed significantly over the last 30 years… 1.Increased demand for housing by the UK population (we have already looked at the social, economic and political reasons for this) 2.There has been de-industrialisation with manufacturing moving from urban areas in the UK, to LICs, where production costs are much lower.
