Today Is B Day

Students going on the Outer Banks trip must have all their money turned in by Monday, October 4 th. Permission slips must be signed and returned before then. For questions, please see Mrs. Payne in the office.

Picture retakes will be Wednesday, October 13 th for those who did not get their pictures made the first time or did not like their first picture.

At yesterday’s Cross Country meet in Flat Rock against all 11 teams in our conference the Madison team once again performed well. In a field of 130 runners, Garrett Anders moved his way up to a 22 nd place finish. He and Jack Brazil both set new personal best times. The girls ran in a field of 165 runners. Hannah Sawyer finished in 6 th place. Indigo Hollister, Amelia Lanier, Shelby Jenkins, and Calli Hensley joined Hannah in securing a 5 th place overall finish for the Patriot girls. Camille Hoffman and Skyla Ward set new personal best times. Congratulations to all the athletes for their races!

The Homecoming Court will rehearse next Tuesday, October 5 th, during half-time. If it rains, rehearsal will be on Wednesday. Meet on the field.

In June of 1776 Betsy Ross sewed the first American flag a few weeks before the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. It has gone through many changes since. The NC flag was not designed until we seceded from the Union in 1861. In 1885, it was drastically changed from that flag to the one we have today. Take a look at each of the flags on the pole out front sometime. Mr. Rice leads us in the Pledge of Allegiance each day and does it slowly in order to show pride and reverence to the flag.

Attention 8 th Graders Driver’s Education Class Oct. 25 th – Nov. 9 th Madison High School from 3:15 to 6:15 You must be age 15 by May 9, 2011 to take the class. Sign up in the main office.

Got A Bike? Saturday, October 23 rd If you would be interested in participating in a bicycle riding field trip to the Virginia Creeper Trail for a 17 mile off road trail bike ride please sign up on Mr. Honeycutt’s door. You must have your own bike.
