The obligation to report The public statement of the progress in the implementation of the 10 principles of the Global Compact The formal obligation stemming from the membership Directed towards stakeholders No firmly defined format, but increasingly more aligned with other global reporting initiatives

Who holds the obligation to report? Companies directly affiliated to GC Non-corporate members, if they specifically took this obligation Two years after becoming a member, and then annually If a reporting deadline is missed, the company is tagged as “inactive”; a year of the inactive status results in company’s removal from membership

Communication on Progress Has three basic elements: Statement by the CEO or by executive body, affirming continued support to the Initiative Description of the specific actions the company has taken in implementing the principles Quantitative indicators of the implementation effectiveness

CoP (continued) May take a form of a separate report, or be incorporated into existing reporting formats (annual report, CSR report) Has to be published at Global Compavct web page (instructions at http://www.unglobalcompact.org/docs/http://www.unglobalcompact.org/docs/ communicationcommunication_on_progress/4.3/COP_posting_doc_eng.pd f) Should be made accessible to the public through usual chanels (most often through company website)
