Where do people live? Ganges Plain 70% of the population lives in small villages Largest City (4 th largest in the world) Mumbai

Pop Culture India has the largest film industry in the world: “Bollywood” Located in Mumbai Produces on average 1,000 movies per year

Daily Life Housing: multiple generations live in the same house Arranged marriages are common today Food: Typical Meal = rice, legumes, and flat breads and curry for spice Do not eat much meat

Daily Life Jobs – farming, – Cottage industry: work from home including weaving, jewelry, furniture making, and wood carving – High tech jobs: computer specialists, engineers, and software designers (they are in high demand throughout the world) – Outsourcing: due to the vast number of English speakers and cheap labor (call centers)
