THIS IS A HAG FISH  Scientific Name: Eptatretus stouti  Common Name: Pacific Hagfish  Environment: This species may be found in depths of approximately 59 to about 109 yards in a marine environment.

 Hag fish have no jaws  Hag fish have light sensitive eyes  They have a defense mechanism by using the production of slime

THIS IS A WHALE SHARK  Scientific name: Rhincodon typus  Common Name: Whale Shark  Environment: found in a band around the equator between about 30° north and 35° south in water temperatures of 18°C to 30°C in both coastal and oceanic waters.

 Whale sharks have about 3,000 very tiny teeth but they are of little use. Whale sharks are filter feeders  The whale shark can grow up to 46 feet, weighing up to 15 tons  Whale sharks are very slow swimmers, going no more than 3 mph

THIS IS A RAINBOW TROUT  Scientificname: Oncorhyncs mykiss  Common name: Rainbow trout  Environment: cool, clear rivers, streams, and lakes, though some will leave their freshwater homes and follow a river out to the sea.

 Average lifespan is 4 to 6 years  Rainbow trout survive on insects, crustaceans, and small fish  The rainbow trout is native only to the rivers and lakes of North America that are west of the Rocky Mountains

THIS IS A POISON FROG  Scientificname: Dendrobates azureus  Common name: Poison dart frog  Environment: live in warm humid habitats

 The only predator of most poison dart frogs is a snake called Leimadophis epinephelus, which has developed a resistance to the frogs' poison  Size: 1 in  Their designs and hues are to ward off potential predators, a tactic called aposematic coloration

THIS IS A KOMODO DRAGON  Scientific name: Varanus komodoensis  Common name: Komodo Dragon  Environment: lower arid forest and savanna, very harsh conditions

 Size: 10 ft  Weight: 330 lbs  can run up to 11 mph in quick bursts  Dragon saliva has over 50 strains of bacteria, and the infected creature usually dies of blood poisoning in 24 hours

THIS IS A BLUE JAY  Scientific name: Cyanocitta cristata  Common name: Blue Jay  Environment: deciduous, coniferous, and mixed forests and woodlands  Common in urban and suburban areas, where large oaks are present

 Wingspan: 34-43 cm  Blue Jays frequently mimic calls of hawks, especially the Red-shouldered Hawk  Blue Jays have been known to eat the eggs and nestlings of other birds

THIS IS A PANDA  Scientific name: Ailuropoda melanoleuca  Common name: Giant Panda  Environment: Humid bamboo forests

 There are close to 1,000 giant pandas left in the wild  Size: 4 to 5 ft  Weight: 300 lbs  Pandas have a highly developed sense of smell that males use to avoid each other and find females for mating
