2. Office of Academic Affairs Computer Science ABET self study report to be forwarded to ABET by June 30. A “Request for Approval of Proposed Change” regarding the Cooperative Engineering Program with Missouri State University was submitted to the Higher Learning Commission, which has responded and noted they will recommend approval of the program. Input from the Personnel committee on the proposed NTT faculty promotion policy has been received and is under consideration. Review of departmental NTT policies for five academic departments is completed and policies are being considered for approval. Third year reviews for eight probationary period faculty have been completed.

3. Summer 2009 semester enrollment Total = 1700 (up 6.25% over last year) Total Undergraduate Students - 941 Total Graduate Students – 759 Summer camp attendance strong, expecting over 1500 students this summer. Fall enrollment in line with projections Enrollment Management Update

4. Global Learning St. Louis Engineering Education Center The enrollment of distance students for FS 2009 remains uncertain in light of the economic slowdown. Recruitment of distance students continues. The following companies were visited in the last few weeks. 6. Office of Graduate Studies The Office of Graduate Studies is personally contacting admitted students All admitted graduate students receive a welcome via email which provides information about the Office of Graduate Studies and the Council of Graduate Students. Admitted international students are randomly selected to receive a personal phone call.

7. Office of Graduate Studies, cont. Responses generated from these contacts are also used in determining relevant information to include on the VPGS website and in automated communications. Between May 11 and June 1, an email campaign to students with incomplete admissions applications resulted in 65 of those students completing their applications (submitting missing documents, etc.).

8. Information Technology New CLC pictorial directory available online at http://it.mst.edu/clc.  Students can search for CLCs by building  See what computers and printers are available in each CLC  Find CLCs based on which software packages they need to use.

9. Information Technology Cont. Windows Vista operating system available  IT has completed its testing and customization of Windows Vista for campus computers and it is now available on request.  Faculty and staff can request the new operating system by calling the IT Help Desk at 573-341-HELP.

Office of Sponsored Programs FY09 activities through the end of May and a year-over- year comparison are as follows: –Proposals awarded in total dollars: $41M (up 13.6%) –Number of proposals awarded and amendments: 336 (down 1.2%) –Proposals submitted in total dollars: $163.5M (up 17.7%) –Number of proposals submitted: 528 (up 3.7%) –Research expenditures: $32.9M (down 2.2%) –F&A recovered: $5.8M (up 18.8%) –Number of active awards: 625 (up 2%)

11. Office of Sponsored Programs UM Research Board February 2009 competition results and year-over-year comparison –Proposals awarded in total dollars: $285,157 (up 117.6%) –Number of proposals awarded: 11 (up 83.3%) –Number of proposals submitted: 30 (up 36.4%) –Proposals submitted in total dollars: $1.1M (up 36.1%)

12. Hit the Ground Running (HGR)  This year’s program is from July 5 – 24, 2009  106 are enrolled for this summer’s program Introduction to Research & Experimental Design A new program of research engagement for undergraduate students --- “Introduction to Research and Experimental Design” will be started this fall. At least 50 S&T students will be engaged with faculty in small groups to discover how to establish research questions and prepare simple proposals to address the research questions. The program seeks to promote 2nd-to-3rd year retention among S&T students.
