About Indore Indore, the capital city of Holkar rulers, is an important industrial city in central India and is known as 'mini Mumbai'. The city has a number of historical monuments belonging to the Holkars besides being home to a large number of temples. The architecture of many of these monuments is an amalgam of various styles. About Centre for Advanced Technology Centre for Advanced Technology (CAT) is part of Department of Atomic Energy of Govt. of India. It grew out of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and its activities are mainly focused on Lasers and Accelerators. The construction of laboratories and houses began in May 1984. In June 1986, first batch of scientists moved from Mumbai to Indore. The activities started in a full-fledged manner from April 1987 onwards. Since then, CAT has grown into a premier R&D institute for work related to lasers, accelerators and their applications. CAT campus is spread over a 760 hectare picturesque site on the outskirts of Indore city encompassing laboratories, housing for the staff and other basic amenities. Presently around 500 scientists and engineers and 550 technical staff are participating in various scientific activities. Location: Centre for Advanced Technology is situated at the south- western end of the Indore city. It is about 12 kms from the Indore Railway station and also about 12 kms from the Indore airport.
