12. Heat Scenes  What do all of the scenes have in common?  Where did the heat come from? Where did it go?

13. Conduction  Conduction is the transfer of heat as a result of direct contact of moving atoms.  Materials that allow heat to travel through them are called conductors; metals are usually good conductors of heat.  Materials that are poor conductors are called insulators.

14. Convection  Convection is the transfer of heat in a fluid as a result of the movement in the fluid itself.

15. Radiation  Radiation is the transfer of heat via electromagnetic waves through space.  Dull, black surfaces absorb heat from radiation; white, shiny surfaces reflect heat.
