Gif animator is a very small, simple piece of software. This demo will show how to create this animated bug.

First open Paint and create the first painting. Save as a gif file (see Paintfirstgo.ppt). Immediately save as blob2.gif, then add features. Note that for this bug only the ellipse tool was used. blob1.gifblob2.gif

Double click on the Gif animator icon to open the program. Next, click on the ‘open’ icon and find blob1.gif. Open the file.

Click on add file. Add blob2.gif

Choose ‘Animation’ then select ‘Looping’ ‘Repeat forever’. Next choose ‘Image’ and for each frame select ‘Duration’ ‘30’.

Preview the animation and if you like it save it!

Part 2: Samples Note for this example of TOOT, the entire animation is symmetrical.

Animation 1: One step at a time 1.Create the coloured rectangle and save as GIF ‘Fish1’ 2.Save as GIF ‘Fish2’ then add body 3.Save as Fish3 then add fins 4.… and so on. 5.Open in GIF animator and follow steps as per previous

Animation 2: Colors move 1.Create your outline in Paint. 2.Save it as a GIF as many times as you need (ie ban1, ban2, ban3, …) 3.Open each GIF and color in order (ie move the red dots up one each time) 4.Open ‘ban1’ in GIF animator 5.Add each GIF in order 6.Animate by looping forever 7.Alter durations to suit

Animation 3: Resize to spin 1.Create the coin in Paint and save as GIF ‘coin1’ 2.Save as GIF ‘coin2’ and squash from both top and bottom 3.Save as coin3 and squash further 4.Open in GIF animator and follow steps as per previous

Animation 4: Limbs move, body doesn’t 1.Create the face as GIF ‘Face1’ 2.Save as (Face2, 3 and 4) 3.Select eyes for each GIF and rotate each 90 degrees 4.Open in GIF animator and follow steps as per previous

Animation 5: Picture moves This web banner was created by students in Year 5. I think by now you can work out how to create a banner like this.
